FRANKFURT, Germany — Germany coach Joachim Loew made a surprising last-minute change in his preliminary World Cup squad on Wednesday, calling up midfielder Christoph Kramer and dropping forward Andre Hahn. Loew also cut three players from the group that will go to a training camp next week. Kramer, who plays for Borussia Moenchengladbach, made his international debut in the 0-0 draw against Poland on Tuesday. Experienced defender Marcell Jansen of Hamburger SV and Schalke midfielders Leon Goretzka and Max Meyer were placed on call, but will not travel to the camp in northern Italy and the World Cup in Brazil unless a member of the squad suffers an injury. Kramer was the unexpected beneficiary of the bland match against Poland. Loew said he needed back-up for the central midfield because several players are recovering from injury. “This decision has nothing to do with the performance of Andre Hahn, we were very pleased with him,” Loew said. “The reasons are purely linked to the position. We have several central midfield players who have been injured recently and some who are coming off long layoffs. So we want to have another option and to be prepared for all eventualities. Christoph Kramer left a very good impression,” Loew said. Hahn is nominally an attacking midfielder, whose speed makes him a perfect counter-attacking player. He led Augsburg with 12 goals this season. Kramer is a hard-working central midfielder who is known for covering a lot of ground. He could step in if Sami Khedira or Bastian Schweinsteiger fail to regain full fitness. Khedira has played one full match since a knee injury in November and Schweinsteiger is nursing a knee problem. The domestic season ends on Saturday with the German Cup final between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. A dozen Germany players are on both sides and will join the national team after the final. Loew decided to drop Jansen although the position of left back is seen as a problem spot on the team. “Marcell was injured in March in the friendly against Chile and although he is healthy again, his fitness is still not optimal, he hasnt played much,” Loew said. As for Goretzka and Meyer, Loew said they were young players the future ahead of them. Germany plays Cameroon on June 1, after which Loew will announce his final 23-man squad. Germany will host Armenia on June 6, one day before flying to Brazil. Germany opens its World Cup campaign on June 16 against Portugal, then plays Ghana on June 21 and ends the group stage against the United States on June 26. Harry Douglas Titans Jersey. Ryan Succop Titans Jersey.com) – A chant of Zeke reverberated around AT&T Stadium before Ezekiel Elliott powered into the end zone for his fourth and final touchdown. Its quite surprising to watch the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on the practice field this week, loose and calm with no sense of panic or despair a€” considering their four-game losing skid, defeats in six of their last seven games, and sitting in last place in the West Division with just five games to play. Indeed, its a thorough departure from the attitude and tone that engulfed the club last season when October rolled around a€” they were on a three-game losing streak with only a pair of wins next to their name in the East Division standings. But this year something has changed, and its not just the move to the West where the competition jockeying for playoff position is much more fierce for the 6-7 Blue Bombers. (Mike) OShea can say that its not him but he brings a lot of this atmosphere to us, said second-year Bomber Greg Peach of the rookie head coach. It allows us to be the way that we are and compete and have fun doing it. Its a lot of different things. You cant really put your finger on one thing. But for sure Im having a great time playing out here this year. We know what we have here. We know what we can do, and if we shore up what we need to we can get on a run starting with this game (in Ottawa). Determined. Conviction, were the two words OShea chose to describe his teams mood in the days following their 16-11 Week 14 loss to Hamilton. Theyre going to stick together and focus and theyre going to sacrifice what they need to sacrifice to try and get this next win. I have not instilled (those values). Those guys have those values. Thats the bottom line, that weve got a group of guys that came in with those values and theyve shared them amongst each other. It makes it easy, but youre right, it feels good watching them, understanding that theyre not quitting or anything. Theyre determined. But it often takes a leader to bring out the best in collected individuals. It always is from the top down, said fifth-year veteran Chris Greaves. Mike OShea a€” thats his attitude. Never say never, and never quit. So we always bbelieve we can win and its never going to let us down regardless of the circumstances.dddddddddddd Were just going to do our jobs, plain and simple, do whats been asked, and keep high spirits doing it. Absolutely (OShea helped foster that attitude) because hes been through it all. Youve got to listen to a guy whos played 16 years and has won three Grey Cups. Plain and simple. He knows whats required and it comes from the top down. NOTES: Following a week of speculation about whether he would be able to play against Hamilton, quarterback Drew Willy appears back to his old self in practice this week after taking Tuesday off due to some overall body soreness. He will start in Ottawa on Saturday… Middle linebacker Ian Wild (shoulder) and Nick Moore (ankle) will both miss a fourth-consecutive game, while also both looking like theyre champing at the bit to get back into the lineup… Right guard Pat Neufeld (calf) will miss his fifth-straight game this week, with Jarvis Jones remaining at his spot, and Devin Tyler getting a second start at right tackle… Standout rookie halfback Bruce Johnson returns to the starting lineup after missing last week with a heel contusion. Johnsons fill-in last week Johnny Sears, who missed over two months with a hamstring injury, will remain in the lineup. Sears took reps at a few different positions in practice this week… Kick returner Troy Stoudermire, who has lit-up Winnipegs return game since cracking the lineup in early August, watched practice in a walking boot this week. He has been placed on the six-game injured list with a foot/toe injury… With Stoudermire out, Demond Washington and Sam McGuffie will handle return duties. McGuffie also took first-team reps at running back this week, so we may see him get some carries with the offence as well. The soon-to-be 25-year-old heptathlete and decathlete says he plans on training for the 2016 U.S. Olympic team this offseason now that he is done school, where he held the hand-clock 40 record of 4.24 seconds as a freshman at Michigan. LONDON — Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney led Manchester United to a convincing 3-1 victory at Fulham and their teams first back-to-back wins in the Premier League under coach David Moyes on Saturday. Goals from Antonio Valencia, Van Persie and Rooney put the game beyond Fulhams reach with just over 20 minutes on the clock at Craven Cottage. After a series of knocks and perhaps an eye on Tuesdays Champions League game with Real Socieded, the commanding lead also allowed Moyes to make wholesale changes at halftime — with Rafael, Jonny Evans and Tom Cleverley being replaced by Chris Smalling, Shinji Kagawa and Marouane Fellaini. Alexander Kacaniklic pulled a goal back for Fulham with a shot that deflected in off Rooney in the 65th minute. But there was little prospect of a comeback in a game that will keep the pressure on Fulham manager Martin Jol, whose side was beaten by second-tier Leicester in the League Cup in midweek. For Moyes, it was an encouraging fourth consecutive win in all competitions. United spent the early stages looking clumsy — but not quite as ponderous as Fulhams Swiss defender Philippe Senderos. A through ball from Van Persie caught out the centre-back and found Rooney, whose squared ball from the left was directed home by Valencia. The hosts soon hit back and only a fine challenge by Rafael denied them the chance of an equalizer. Scott Parker sent a superb ball to former United striker Dimitar Berbatov, only for the Brazilian right-back to thwart the Bulgarian as he prepared to pull the trigger. Fulham duly paid for the missed opportunity. Parker looked to have been fouled by Adnan Januzaj but the referee allowed play to continue. The teenager played through Van Persie and, despite looking to have been offside, continued to lash the ball past countryman Maarten Stekelenburg. Two minutes later, United moved even further ahead. This time Fernando Amorebieta was the guilty offender, with Van Persie getting behind his man and squaring for Rooney to slot home from close range. Fulham looked rejuvenated after the restart, with Pajtim Kasami drilling a shot just wide as the Whites pushed for a goal that came in the 65th minute. After Fellaini headed into the side-netting at the other end, Kacaniklic, four minutes after coming on, saw his strike from the edge of the box turned past David De Gea by Rooney. Januzaj saw a penalty appeal waved away seven minutes later, before Smalling headed away an effort from Berbatov. Kacaniklic scooped the ball over the top as the match entered the final 10 minutes, with chants of You dont know what youre doing from disgruntled Fulham aimed at Jol after he replaced Parker with Darren Bent. The on-loan striker soon hushed those fans up with a header that hit the crossbar, while Adel Taarabt forced De Gea into a late save and Kieran Richardson headed just wide. The Territories fell to 1-3. “Its good that its early in the week so hopefully both of us win the rest of our games,” he added. “Theyre obviously better,” Jamie said of the encounters with his brother. “Were going to have to play our best and hope for some breaks but its a fair battle.” Jamie Koe has represented the Territories four out of the last five years but when Kevin has been there he has always won the brother-vs.-brother tussle. Monday also saw New Brunswicks James Grattan score his first win this year against Greg Balsdon of Ontario 9-6. Grattan gave Stoughton a fight Sunday as well and said it felt good to get a monkey off his back with the win. “When we went to bed last night we felt pretty good about it,” he said of the Manitoba game. “The team in the last two games has really shown up.” He says getting used to the ice has been an issue. They lost their first game 13-5 and the second 10-1. “We come from an area of the world where the ice is fairly straight all the time . . Coming out here and all of a sudden youre taking the 122-foot to get to the lid and its a different ball game.dddddddddddd” Its also important to win games at the Brier if you want a reserved spot in the future. A new system is coming into place that will force the bottom finishers to compete for the right to return. Its being brought in to keep the field the same size with the addition of a Team Canada and new rinks from Nunavut and Yukon, instead of just one Territories team. P.E.I.s Eddie MacKenzie also grabbed a share of second place as he climbed to 3-1 after beating Quebecs Jean-Michel Menard. But, that could change after the evening draw. MacKenzie has already matched his combined record at his first two Brier appearances for Prince Edward Island , in 2011 and 2013. “Its definitely better than 0-5 or 0-6 like we were the last couple of times,” he said. “Id say being here the last three out of four years helps for sure, playing on arena ice a little more.” Saskatchewans Steve Laycock also sat at 3-1 after beating still winless Nova Scotia 5-3. “We kind of figured 3-1 or 4-0 was where wed want to be after this stretch because we do have some of the favourites coming up,” he said. Nova Scotia skip Jamie Murphy isnt too thrilled at the Canadian Curling Association for the changes coming in 2015 that could see Nova Scotia have to fight for the right to play in the Brier. “Were firm believers that messing with traditions such as the Brier doesnt seem like a smart decision,” he said of the new system, popularly known as relegation, although it seems anything but popular. “Were obviously biased when we say that because were probably going to be in the relegation pool.” Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ‘ ‘ ‘

NEW YORK — Derek Jeter received warm ovations from the 40,133 at Citi Field when he jogged onto the field during warmups, as a video tribute to him was shown on the scoreboard after the national anthem and before each of his four at-bats. There was little fanfare, though, when the Yankees captain was taken out of his final regular-season Subway Series game in the eighth inning. Jeter watched the last four outs from the bench, pulled off the field during a double switch Thursday night as the Yankees held off the Mets 1-0. “I just told him Im going to make a double-switch. Its where we are in the lineup; thats how you do it,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said of the conversation on the mound with two outs in the eighth. “He understands.” Its not the first time Jeter had been removed in a double switch in his 133 games at a NL ballpark. He was taken out by Girardi in 2010 and he was lifted by Joe Torre in 2007, according to STATS. David Robertson didnt even know he was brought in to face David Wright in a double switch that lifted Jeter until he got Wright to ground out to Jeters replacement at shortstop, defensive whiz Brendan Ryan, with runners at the corners. Robertson pitched a perfect ninth for his seventh save. Six weeks shy of his 40th birthday, Jeter left after an 0-for-4 night that dropped his batting average to .254. Alfonso Sorianos RBI double in the seventh broke up a scoreless duel at Citi Field between starting pitchers making their major league debuts. Rookie reliever Dellin Betances struck out six straight hitters as the Yankees earned a split of this years series between crosstown rivals with their second straight shutout. “Its impressive,” Wright said of Betances. “He had his way with us for sure.” In a matchup of late-round picks in the 2010 draft, Yankees starter Chase Whitley (15th round) pitched two-hit ball for 4 2-3 innings, striking out four and walking two. Mets starter Jacob deGrom (ninth round) allowed one run and four hits in seven innings, striking out six and walking two. “It was unbelievable to watch that guy,” Whitley said of deGrom. “He pitched a heck of a game.” In addition to a commanding performance on the mound, the 25-year-old deGrom helped Mets pitchers end an unusual record for futility. He lined a single to centre field in the third inning to end the staffs 0-for-64 start to the season. The Mets had long passed a century-old record established by the St. Louis Browns. They went hitless in 45 at-bats in 1914, according to information provided by the Mets from the Elias Sports Bureau. Whitley also got a hit in his first at-bat — even before he allowed a hit. “I was bragging about my hitting before the game,” Whitley said, “but then I gave one right back to that guy.” Young pitchers dominated the series in both games at spacious Citi Field after two slugfests in the Bronx. Masahiro Tanaka pitched his first major league shutout Wednesday, a 4-0 win for the Yankees. After Rafael Montero started his big league career with a fine six-inning performance against Tanaka, deGrom distinguished himself. “Its amazing. You cant say enough good things about those two guys,” Wright said. Its been 12 years since a team had pitchers make their big league debuts in consecutive games. Milwaukee did it Sept. 2-3, 2002. Jeter was honoured by the Mets before the game. He received several subway-themed gifts, including a “Cake Boss” creation and a No. 2 mosaic made of subway tiles. The Mets Foundation gave Jeter a $22,222.22 donation to his Turn 2 Foundation. But he did little at the plate. He lined into a double play in the third with runners on first and second. Then with two on in the eighth, he hit a grounder to shortstop Ruben Tejada, who threw home for a tag play at the plate to keep the score 1-0. “Theres a time when the respect for the game takes over and you cant do what you once did,” Mets manager Terry Collins said. “The game deserves all you can give it, and if its not there you got to step aside. Some guys have a tough time doing it but the really great ones dont.” Soriano lined a double to left-centre and catcher Brian McCann scored from first, sliding home as Tejadas relay forced catcher Juan Centeno to leap for it. McCann reached when first baseman Lucas Duda failed to scoop Wrights relay on a potential double-play grounder. Up until then, the Yankees had little success against the shaggy-haired deGrom. The former college shortstop was initially called up to pitch out of the bullpen, but got the start in place of Dillon Gee, who pulled a lat muscle. The 24-year-old Whitley was not even on the Yankees 40-man roster this winter, but with starters CC Sabathia, Michael Pineda and Ivan Nova all injured, he got the call after just 13 Triple-A starts over three seasons. On Monday night, many fans in this city placed the blame squarely on the captain for his role in the James Neal overtime winner against the Pittsburgh Penguins. NEW YORK — Gio Gonzalez apparently gets his swing ready in spring training, too. The pitcher homered in his first start for the second straight season — sprinting around the bases because he didnt realize it was gone — and tossed three-hit ball to lead the Washington Nationals over the New York Mets 5-1 Wednesday night. “I think it was the fastest home run jog in baseball,” Gonzalez said. “I was about to slide home!” Gonzalez also registered six of Washingtons 13 strikeouts, giving the staff a total of 31. In a post on Twitter, the Nationals said thats the most for any team after two games in modern major league history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. STATS confirmed the 31 whiffs by New York batters were the most in the first two games since at least 1914, surpassing the previous mark of 28 by Houston hitters against Texas last season. Ian Desmond also went deep and Jayson Werth had four hits for the Nationals, who followed up their 10-inning comeback on opening day with a more routine victory against one of Gonzalezs favourite foes. The left-hander walked one in six comfortable innings, improving to 6-0 with a 1.62 ERA in his last seven starts against New York. Left fielder Bryce Harper threw out a runner at the plate, and Denard Span scored twice following extra-base hits. “Today was definitely a little smoother for me personally,” first-year Nationals manager Matt Williams said. “What you worry about is a little bit of a letdown, with everything coming out of spring and a day off, its easy to have a letdown. But they didnt. They were ready to go today, which was great.” Mets manager Terry Collins stacked his lineup with eight right-handed hitters, but it hardly mattered. New York provided little support for Bartolo Colon (0-1), touched up for nine hits over six innings in his Mets debut. The beefy right-hander signed a $20 million, two-year contract in the off-season after going 18-6 with a 2.65 ERA for Oakland last year, when he finished serving a 50-game suspension for a positive drug test. Desmond and Gonzalez (1-0) both homered in the fifth against Colon. “I think I pitched very well,” Colon said through a translator. “They were just coming out a little high, thats all.” Drew Storen, Tyler Clippard and Craig Stammen finished a three-hitter. Mets closer Bobby Parnell has a partially torn elbow ligament that might require surgery, and new outfielder Chris Young came out in the second inning with tightness in his right quadriceps.dddddddddddd The injury kept Young on the bench in the opener. “I feel terrible about not being able to contribute,” he said. Juan Lagares, an early bright spot, got the Mets off to a good start with a leadoff triple. He scored on David Wrights sacrifice fly, snapping Gonzalezs streak of 16 shutout innings at Citi Field. Consecutive doubles by Werth and Adam LaRoche tied it in the fourth. Desmond hit the first pitch of the fifth over the left-centre wall, and Gonzalez went deep two batters later. A right-handed batter, the pitcher drove a 2-2 delivery off the railing just above the shortened fence in left-centre at Citi Field. The ball caromed back onto the outfield grass and Gonzalez sprinted home, unaware that second base umpire Todd Tichenor was signalling home run. “That was epic. Thats going to go down in the memory bank for a long, long time,” Desmond said. Back in the dugout and out in the bullpen, Gonzalezs teammates had a blast. “I was trying to catch my breath as the guys were piling on,” Gonzalez said. “I was just trying to find an oxygen tank.” The umpires didnt even look at a replay. “Even the bullpen guys were telling me, You were running away like you were running from the cops!” Gonzalez said. “I dont know what that is about, but I guess I know what it is now.” It was Gonzalezs third career homer. He also connected during his first outing last season off Miamis Kevin Slowey, and in August 2012 against Houston right-hander Armando Galarraga. “He swung that bat good, didnt he?” Williams said. “Hes got bragging rights for a few days, anyway.” Ruben Tejada tried to score from first when Lagares doubled inside third base with two outs in the fifth, but was cut down at the plate on a strong throw by Harper. “The things he can do with that arm are pretty special,” Desmond said. “Your instincts tell you what a normal outfielder can do, not one with a Bazooka.” NOTES: Williams recalled playing third base behind Colon when the right-hander made his major league debut with Cleveland in 1997. … Washington RHP Jordan Zimmermann starts the series finale Thursday afternoon against RHP Zack Wheeler. CALGARY — Pittsburgh was held to two goals on Saturday night but, against a struggling Calgary offence that set a record for being shutout at home, it was enough. Marc-Andre Fleury made 27 saves to backstop the Penguins to a 2-1 victory over the Flames, handing Calgary its team record sixth consecutive home regulation loss. “It was just nice today, to have a close, low scoring game,” said Fleury, who improved to 26-10-1. “It felt nice. The last few games were a little crazy so its definitely nice and it was a good battle.” It looked for the longest time like Fleury was going to become the sixth goaltender in the last eight games to shut out the Flames before Mikael Backlund cut into a 2-0 deficit with a goal with 8:31 left in the third period. “Its a relief. Its hard when you chase and chase and you get scoring chances and the puck doesnt go in,” Backlund said. “It gets in your head a little bit. It shouldnt but its natural. But as soon as you score one, everybody settles down a little bit and you feel better.” Ending a goalless stretch at the Scotiabank Saddledome at a team record 196 minutes 59 seconds, Backlund outbattled Kris Letang for the puck and scored on a wicked slapshot from 40 feet out. “Obviously it was nice to get a goal since we havent had too many at home here, lately, but were very disappointed that we didnt win the game,” Backlund said. Chris Kunitz and Matt Niskanen scored for Pittsburgh (33-12-2). The Penguins pick up five-of-six points on its three-game road trip that included a win in Vancouver and an overtime loss in Edmonton on Friday. “The Western Canada swing, its always a hype-up for these games,” said Pittsburgh coach Dan Bylsma. “With Sidney in the building, it seems like we get the best from other teams.” Calgary (15-24-6) is next in action Monday in Carolina as they begin a short two-game road trip that sees them also play Tuesday in Nashville. “On the mental side, its good but its another loss,” said Flames coach Bob Hartley, relieved that his team scored but not pleased with the end result. “But I cant fault the effort. Tonight was by far one of our best games lately.” After the Backlund goal, with the roaring sell-out crowd of 19,289 suddenly back in the game and momentum seemingly on their side, Calgary could not get the tying goal as Pittsburgh didnt give the Flames much to work with. That was different than how Fridays loss played out in Edmonton when the Penguins blew a third-period lead and lost in overtime. “After a disappointing third period for us last night, for us it was a much better team game,” said Niskanen. “We got the 2-0 lead, same situation we were in last night and thats something we want to get better at, playing with the lead.” Pittsburgh took a 1-0 lead at 16:34 of the first period on a laser of a shot from Kunitz that beat Reto Berra over his shoulder and just under the cross bar. The Penguins made it 2-0 at 6:42 of the second when Niskanens shot through a crowd in front squeaked through the pads of Berra. The Flames 27-year-old goaltender had 24 saves including two stellar stops against Sidney Crosby less than 30 seconds apart in the first period. With the game scoreless, first Crosby broke in from off the left wing but had his snap shot smothered. Later that shift, Kunitzs pass sprung Crosby on a breakaway from the blue-line but again Berra showed good reflexes in stopping the close wrist shot. Crosby also hit a goal post in seeing his seven-game points streak snapped. Down 2-0 seven minutes into the third period, the Flames had a chance to try to get the game back to even when they got a five-minute power play after Pittsburgh defenceman Robert Bortuzzo was given a match penalty for head contact for a heavy hit along the side boards on Calgary captain Mark Giordano. But the Flames could not click on the major, which was cut short when Mike Cammalleri took a cross-checking penalty during it. Calgary is now 1 for 26 with the man advantage in the last eight games. “If we could have scored a couple power-play goals, we could have won the game. That was the difference,” Backlund said. “We had a few power-play opportunities and we didnt score and its been like that for a while and its been costing us some games.” Notes: The old mark for Calgarys regulation losses at home was five, which happened in March 2000 … Calgary has scored just 12 goals in Berras last 11 starts. … Backlunds goal ended the Flames overall shutout streak at 174:59, short of the team record of 182:42 set in November 2002 … Calgary RW David Jones (eye) missed his fourth game … C Joe Vitale (upper body) did not play for Pittsburgh … Pittsburgh lost centre Brian Gibbons to a lower-body injury in the first period … Pittsburgh has won seven games in a row against the Flames including the last four at the Scotiabank Saddledome … The Penguins improved to 10-2-1 against the West. HOUSTON – Klay Thompson had a great night offensively on Saturday.More impressive, though, was his work on defence as he limited NBA leading scorer James Harden to just 11 points.Stephen Curry and Thompson scored 27 points each and the Golden State Warriors used a huge third quarter to roll to a 131-106 win over the Houston Rockets.Thompson was asked if he takes pride in building a reputation as someone who can be dominant on both ends of the floor.I do. I really do, he said. I just want to continue to prove that and get better every game.Coach Steve Kerr raved about Thompsons work on Harden, who went 4 of 15, including 0 of 4 on 3s, to finish well below his average of 27 points a game.Klay did a great job, Kerr said of the guard, who had a career-high five blocks. I thought Klay did a good job of avoiding fouls and then contesting late.Golden State rebounded from a loss to Oklahoma City on Friday night that snapped an eight-game winning streak.Anytime you get a bounce back win and finish a four-games-in-five-nights stretch 3-1, thats big, Curry said. The Warriors led by five at halftime and used a 38-point third quarter, with 15 points from Curry, to take a 22-point lead into the fourth.Dwight Howard, who missed the first two games against the Warriors, led Houston with 23 points and 10 rebounds. The Rockets got five straight points from Kostas Papanikolaou to cut the lead to 110-94 with seven minutes left, but Golden State scored nine quick points after that, led by Currys five, to make it 119-94 and cruise to the win.It is Golden States NBA-leading 24th double-digit victory and its third win over Houston this season. Its the first time the Warriors won a season series against the Rockets since 2006-07.They finish the series on Wednesday at Golden State.A 3-pointer by Josh Smith cut Golden States lead to 10 with three minutes left in the third quarter. But the Warriors capped the quarter with a 12-0 run, with eight points from David Lee, to go up 102-80 entering the fourth quarter. Houston had four turnovers to help the Warriors build the lead. That third quarter was ridiculous, coach Kevin McHale said. We couldnt get a stop, we turned it over and we just lost all of our fire. We had nothing. The Warriors scored the first five points and the second half to push the lead to 69-59. The Rockets used a 7-1 run, with four points from Howard, to get within 70-66 a couple minutes later.Curry, who had 11 assists, got Golden State going again after that, making an off-balance layup as he was fouled. He tumbled backward and landed on top of a cameraman on the sideline before falling to the court. He made the free throw and those three points were the start of a 10-2 run that extended the advantage to 80-68 midway through the third quarter. The lead had changed 11 times and it had been tied 11 other times before Houston used a 7-0 run to make it 59-55 with about two minutes left in the first half.Kerr called a 20-second timeout and the Warriors regrouped and finished the half with a 9-0 spurt to a take a 64-59 lead into halftime. Our guys did a great job the two minutes of closing the quarter and getting a couple of hoops and re-establishing ourselves and I think that carried over to the third quarter when we really went on a good run, he said.TIP-INSWarriors: Andre Iguodala got a technical foul in the second quarter. … Its the first time Golden State has swept a road series against the Rockets since 1975-76.Rockets: Howard received a technical with about 10 minutes left in the first quarter for arguing an offensive foul. … Golden States 64 first-half points were the second-most Houston has allowed before halftime this season. … Golden States 38 points in the third were the most the Rockets have allowed in a quarter this season.KERRS QUIPKerr rested Andrew Bogut and Iguodala on Friday night against the Thunder and was asked before the game if he has a better handle on when to give players time off since he played for 16 seasons. My coaches often rested me when I was fine, he deadpanned. So Im not sure if really have a handle on it or not.UP NEXTWarriors: Host Nuggets Monday.Rockets: Host Pacers Monday. Justin Tuggle Browns Jersey. Thompson, returning after a one-game absence to attend his grandfathers funeral in the Bahamas, scored 23 of his 27 points in the second half and hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 11.1 seconds remaining to lift the Warriors to a 113-112 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night. Stephen Curry led all scorers with 37 points for the Warriors, who rallied from an 18-point deficit midway through the third quarter to snap a two-game skid. Golden State also moved 1 1/2 games behind Portland for the Western Conferences No. 5 playoff spot. “Thats as good a win as weve had in three years,” Warriors coach Mark Jackson said. “It would have been very easy to fold our tent and hang our heads. Klay and Steph were spectacular.” Damian Lillard finished with 26 points and Nicholas Batum had 23 points and 14 rebounds for the Blazers, who lost for the fifth time in six games. Portland also played without injured All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who missed his second game with a lower back contusion. Batum had a chance to tie the score with 5.8 seconds remaining, but missed the second of two free throws. The Blazers got the rebound but failed to get another shot off. Curry dedicated the victory to Thompson, who had to take three different flights to get from the Bahamas to Portland and didnt arrive until the wee hours Sunday morning. “We wanted to get this one for Klay,” said Curry, who made 11 of 24 shots, including 6 of 12 from 3-point range. “Hes been through a lot this week, put on a lot of miles, and obviously ben through a lot. “For him to compartmentalize a little bit for two hours and come out and play was big for us. It says a lot about how much hes committed to whats going on here.” Thompson didnt show any fatigue, especially in the second half when he connected on 8 of 14 shots, including three 3-pointers. “Yeah, three flights, but I slept on most of them,” Thompson said. “I actually felt fresh when I stepped on the court. You might not believe me, but I warmed up before the game and felt good.” Robin Lopez finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Wesley Matthews and Dorell Wright had 13 points each for the Blazers, who led by 18 points twice, the second time at 72-54 with 7:20 remaining in the third quarter. “We have to put that game away,” Matthews said. “With guys like Steph and Klay, they can get hot and thats what they did. We still gave ourselves a chance, but were at the point now where if we have a team down 18, we have to put that game away.” Golden State pulled to 85-77 going into the fourth quarter and took thhe lead with 6:01 to play after Thompson blocked Lillards shot at one end of the court and got fouled on a drive to the basket at the other end while Portland coach Terry Stotts was also assessed a technical foul.dddddddddddd Curry made the technical free throw and then Thompson made 1 of 2 foul shots to put the Warriors in front 97-96 — their first lead since 31-29. From there, the lead changed four times and there were two ties before Thompsons 3 from in front of the Portland bench put the Warriors in front, 110-107, with 53.8 seconds left. After a dunk by Lillard pulled Portland to 110-109, Curry turned the ball over. Lillard was then fouled driving to the basket and made both free throws to make it 111-110 with 20.7 seconds remaining. Thompsons third 3 of the game gave the Warriors the lead for good. “Hes a big-time player,” Jackson said of Thompson. “Hes as cool as they come. It does not bother him making and missing shots. Hes not afraid to take the next one.” David Lee had 16 points and Jermaine ONeal added eight points and four rebounds off the bench for the Warriors. “Disappointed to lose another close game,” Stotts said. “Curry got hot in the second half. We have to figure out ways to close out games and realize when we have a 16-, 18-point lead, we cant take our foot off the gas.” Portlands Mo Williams, expected to miss two weeks with a strained right hip muscle, returned after missing only two games and had 12 points, four assists and two steals. NOTES: Batum matched his season high with five 3-pointers and became the first player in franchise history to record consecutive games with 20 or more points, 10 or more rebounds and four or more 3-pointers. Hes also the first NBA player with 22 or more points, 14 or more rebounds, and four or more 3-pointers in back-to-back games since Minnesotas Kevin Love on Jan. 1-2, 2012. … Jackson said before the game that the Blazers are a different team without Aldridge, who was averaging team highs of 23.4 points and 11.1 rebounds when was injured in the third quarter of Wednesdays 103-90 loss at San Antonio. … The Blazers came in second in league scoring at 107.3 points a game and had scored 90 or more points in 20 consecutive games. The last time Portland was held to fewer than 90 points was in a 98-81 loss at home to Memphis. … Jackson lobbied for eighth-year centre Andrew Bogut as a candidate for the NBAs all-defensive team. “Hes the anchor to our defence,” Jackson said. “Hes a guy who changes, alters, blocks a lot of shots at the rim, protects the paint, and rebounds the basketball. Hes been very, very valuable to what weve been able to do this year and deserves a lot of credit.” Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ‘ ‘ ‘

a conference all-star the past two seasons

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Sabres have narrowed their general manager search to four candidates, including Bruins assistant GM Jim Benning and Senators assistant GM Tim Murray, a person familiar with the process told The Associated Press on Tuesday. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the Sabres have not revealed their list of candidates to succeed Darcy Regier, who was fired in November. The search is led by newly hired team president Pat LaFontaine. The finalists are still being interviewed, and no timetable has yet been set for when the position will be filled, the person said. The two other finalists were not revealed. Candidates linked to the job include Pittsburgh Penguins assistant GM Jason Botterill and Toronto Maple Leafs assistant GM Claude Loiselle. Benning, a former NHL defenceman, spent 12 seasons as a Sabres scout, including eight as the teams director of amateur scouting before being hired by the Bruins in 2006. In Buffalo, Benning had a hand in the Sabres drafting the core of the team that lost the Eastern Conference finals in 2006 and 07. It was a group that included goalie Ryan Miller, forwards Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville and defenceman Brian Campbell. Murray is in his seventh season as the Senators assistant general manager. He began his NHL scouting career with Detroit in 1993, and is the nephew of Senators general manager Bryan Murray. Murray has also spent time as a scout with Florida, Anaheim and the New York Rangers. LaFontaine has been patient in conducting his search since taking over after the Sabres fired both Regier and coach Ron Rolston. The purge happened after the Sabres got off to a franchise-worst start and stuck at the bottom of the NHL standings with a 4-15-1 record. LaFontaine was initially offered the GMs post by Sabres owner Terry Pegula, but instead turned it down because he felt he didnt have enough experience. LaFontaines first move was bringing back former Sabres coach Ted Nolan to serve as interim coach with the chance to retain the job once a new general manager is in place. Under Nolan, the Sabres (12-26-4) have gone 8-11-3 and have won five straight at home entering their home game against Carolina on Tuesday night. Though still last in the standings, the Sabres general managers job is considered attractive because the team has stockpiled high draft picks as part of a youth movement that began under Regier last season. The Sabres could have as many as two first-round and three second-round selections in this years draft. The Sabres also have a solid group of prospects in their farm system. They include defencemen Rasmus Ristolainen and Nikita Zadorov, who were both drafted in the first round in June. The next Sabres general managers most immediate priority will be determining whether to re-sign Miller, who is in the final year of his contract. He was with the New York Jets in 2011 when the NFL locked out their players after they failed to agree on a new contract. Willy went undrafted but was given a look by four NFL teams before heading north. “If there was something to happen, Id make sure we were getting the guys together in Winnipeg . . . getting our work in, obviously not in the building but somewhere around Winnipeg,” he said Wednesday as the Blue Bombers rookie camp got under way. Thats what quarterback Mark Sanchez did with the Jets during the four-month NFL lockout in 2011. “Whoevers in the area, well make sure we get all the leaders, a lot of guys that are in the area.” Not that Willy, 27, is looking forward to running a makeshift camp as he prepares to take the field for the first time as a starting quarterback in the CFL, after spending two seasons as a backup with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. “Being a first-time starter, I need all the reps I can get but also I understand it is a business and I back the players,” he said. Things still remained very much up in the air Wednesday as the clock ticked down and talks resumed. The collective bargaining agreement between the league and the players ends Thursday at midnight ET, and a possible strike looms before the start of main camp Sunday. Willy said he was looking forward to throwing his first passes as a Blue Bomber on Investors Group Field as rookie camp got rolling Wednesday evening. “Quarterbacks, we dont get hit in practice, so Ive always loved practice.” He had already spent a couple of days in the teams quarterback school with the Bombers other three pivots, Robert Marve, Brian Brohm and Max Hall, the only active quarterback from last season the team elected to keep on their roster. Brohm was signed last season but went straight to the injured list. Hall took over mid-season and finished as Winnipegs most consistent quarterback in 2013, starting nine of Winnipegs 12 final games. But the team still floundered and finished at 3-15 in thhe CFL cellar.dddddddddddd Offensive co-ordinator Marcel Bellefeuille is also back after taking over last August when Gary Crowton was sacked, and he has been putting the teams quarterbacks though their paces. “We pretty much started with what coach Bellefeuille expects from us as a unit, as individuals. Just mentally doing the right things, watching a lot of film,” said Willy. “You get towards the installation period where we put in different aspects of the offence.” The one good thing that came out of last season was the ability to pick second in the CFL draft (behind expansion Ottawa, which traded its pick to Calgary), and the Bombers also announced Wednesday that they had signed their top 2014 pick, offensive lineman Matthias Goossen. The team is hoping Goossen might even be able to start this season, perhaps at centre. The six-foot-four, 294-pound lineman was a conference all-star the past two seasons at Simon Fraser and was also on the world team that defeated the U.S. for the first time ever at the 2012 IFAF International Bowl. After his first practice Wednesday, Goossen said it was exciting, tiring and also the first time the Vancouver-area native has lived away from home. Hes bunking in a University of Manitoba dorm. “You only have one first practice and it was a lot of fun, very fast and very physical,” he said after lining up at centre, although he said he isnt necessarily counting on winning that spot. “Im just trying to do my best every day. Im going to try and get better and contribute to the team in any way possible.” Coach Mike OShea was happy Goossen made it for the start of camp and sounded a lot more positive about his chances. “We drafted him at that spot for a reason because we like him a lot,” said OShea. “Hes going to be just fine.” The Bombers are hanging a lot on Willys shoulders as they prepare for their second season in a new $200-million-plus stadium that carries a hefty mortgage they must pay. But Willy isnt short on confidence. “Ive been around some good coaches and players. I just need to take everything Ive learned here and there, put it all together and go out there,” he said. LOS ANGELES — Jordan Farmar is moving down the hall at Staples Center, leaving the Los Angeles Lakers to sign with the Clippers, who have also signed centre Spencer Hawes. Farmar averaged 10.1 points, 4.9 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 41 games for the struggling Lakers last season. The free agent guard won NBA titles in 2009 and 2010 with the Lakers, who drafted him out of UCLA in 2006. The deal allows the 27-year-old Los Angeles native to stay home and become the backup to Chris Paul after UCLA alum Darren Collison chose to leave and sign with Sacramento. Farmar was bothered by a torn left hamstring and a strained right groin that cost him half of last season. Hawes averaged 13.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 80 games with Cleveland and Philadelphia last season. The 26-year-old big man has also played for Sacramento during his seven-year career. PITTSBURGH — Clint Hurdle did his best to ignore the doubters when the Pittsburgh Pirates took a $5 million flier on Edinson Volquez. “Thats why they call it noise,” Hurdle said. Funny, its quiet now. The resurgent right-hander continued his career resurrection on Tuesday night, limiting the Detroit Tigers for six effective innings in a 4-2 victory. Volquez (10-7) allowed two runs on five hits, striking out five against two walks. His best play, however, wasnt a pitch but a slick behind-the-back grab of a chopper by Victor Martinez in the first inning that kept the Tigers from extending an early 1-0 lead. “The ball got me,” Volquez said. “I got lucky on that one.” Maybe, but Volquez isnt ruling out karma either. There were times over the last five years when that ball would find its way to centerfield and Volquez would crumble. Not this time. The former All-Star turned reclamation project has been one of the few constants in a pitching rotation thats seen top end starters Francisco Liriano and Gerrit Cole spend significant time on the disabled list. “Hes been fun to watch,” Hurdle said. “From the time we got him he showed up wanting to get better and wanting to learn.” Travis Snider went 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Pirates. Gaby Sanchez and Ike Davis added RBI doubles and Jordy Mercer chipped in a run-scoring single. Mark Melancon worked out of a two-on, one-out jam for his 22nd save as Pittsburgh improved to 5-3 without star centerfielder Andrew McCutchen, who is on the disabled list with a rib injury. Alex Avila hit his ninth homer of the season for Detroit. Robbie Ray (1-2) gave up four runs in five-plus innings while making a spot start for the weary Tigers. Detroit has lost six of seven as it battles surging Kansas City for the lead in the AL Central. “Weve got to make our own opportunities,” Detroit manager Brad Ausmus said. “Weve got to take advantage of those opportunities and were not doing that.” Detroits best chance came in the first. Ian Kinsler drove home Ezequiel Carrera with an RBI-single in the first and Miguel Cabrera followed with a single to put runners at the corners. Martinez smashed a grounder up the middle that Volquez somehow grabbed with his glove while reaching behind his back. Kinsler was tagged out in a rundown between third and home and the big inning was avoided. It was the only reprieve Volquez needed. Sanchez and Snider delivered consecutive RBI doubles in the second off Roy to put the Pirates in front. Mercer drove home Josh Harrison in the third to make it 3-1. Avila hit a long home run to centre to pull Detroit within one but pinch hitter Ike Davis doubled to the gap in right-centre to score Starling Marte and push the lead to 4-2. TRAINERS ROOM Tigers: Officially placed RHP Anibal Sanchez on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Aug. 9 with a right pectoral strain and recalled left-handed reliever Blaine Hardy from Triple-A Toledo. An MRI on Cy Young winner Justin Verlanders sore shoulder on Tuesday revealed no major structural damage, though Ausmus called it “unlikely” that Verlander would make his next scheduled start on Sunday against Seattle. Pirates: The team continues to take a cautious approach with Cole, who has been on the disabled list since July 5 with a right lat injury. The former No. 1 pick will start for Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday. Hurdle said the team would like to see Cole get one more start under his belt without any setbacks before making his return. Pittsburgh second baseman Neil Walkers bad back kept him out of the lineup on Tuesday, though Hurdle said Walker is making significant progress. ON DECK The interleague series between the two clubs moves to Detroit on Wednesday. Rookie Buck Farmer will make his major league debut for the Tigers. The fifth-round pick in the 2013 draft went 10-5 with a 2.60 ERA in 18 starts for Class A West Michigan and went 1-0 in two starts with Double-A Erie. Cleveland can accommodate only about 5,000 fans at its facility. Browns President Alec Scheiner told The Associated Press the team will ask fans to sign up beforehand so “we dont turn away 2,000 or 3,000 fans who just show up.” Scheiner said the team will announce when capacity is reached, but fans can still come and wait to get in. The team is working out final details of the registration. Camp will remain free. Manziels arrival has created a buzz around the Browns, who moved up in the first round of the NFL draft to select the celebrated Heisman Trophy winner who hangs out with rapper Drake and has NBA superstar LeBron James as a business partner. Scheiner said the Browns season-ticket base has grown by more than 4,000 since Manziel was picked. His No. 2 jersey is on store shelves in the Cleveland area and is already one of the leagues top sellers before he has played in a game. Manziel is currently behind Hoyer on the depth chart, and theres no guarantee hell move up when the season starts. But that wont stop fans from flocking to see Johnny Football, who caused a stir last weekend by taking a trip to Las Vegas. Manziel was in Los Angeles on Friday with 34 other rookies to attend a rookie symposium run by the players union. The Browns set attendance records at training camp last year and Scheiner anticipates this years crowds to be “a little bit better.” “Its exciting, and its fun,” he said. “Were getting better.” Scheiner, who spent eight years with the Dallas Cowboys before he was hired by Cleveland after the 2012 season, said the Browns have begun looking into moving their camp to a college campus. The team previously trained at Bowling Green (1946-51), Hiram (1952-74), Kent State (1975-81) and Lakeland Community College (1982-91) before holding camp in Berea, the year-round training headquarters. Scheiner points to the many challenges in moving training camp, including transportation costs, getting practice fields up to NFL specifications as well as housing. “Well look at it,” he said. “If theres something that makes sense, well look at it. If theres not, we wont. But were going to start looking at it carefully.” If the Browns do move camp, Scheiner expects the new site to be within driving distance of Cleveland. Last year, the Browns drew 56,306 fans to their 13 open practices at the training facility and a family night session at FirstEnergy Stadium. They averaged 2,475 fans per practice in Berea and set a one-day record of 4,466. Marcus Peters Chiefs Jersey. BALTIMORE — Orioles slugger Chris Davis has tried just about everything to break out of lengthy hitting slump. Extra batting practice and intensive video study havent worked. Maybe a seat in the dugout will help the Baltimore star come up with the solution. Davis wasnt in the starting lineup Monday night against the Chicago White Sox. Manager Buck Showalter explained the move as simply an effort to get Delmon Young some playing time, but Davis knew better. He attributed the benching to his lack of hitting this month. “Thats pretty evident,” Davis said. “Its about putting the best nine out there every game, giving yourself a chance to win, and lately I just havent been very good.” Davis is batting .216 with 12 homers and 37 RBIs. Over his previous 14 games, he was 7 for 54 (.130). Last year, Davis hit .286 and led the majors with 53 home runs and 138 RBIs. “If youd have asked me in the off-season or during spring training if I thought I was going to struggle like Im doing this year, Id have told you that you were crazy,” Davis said. Of the day off, he said, “Maybe it will give me a chance to clear my head.” Davis misery this season began in earnest with an oblique injury that put him on the disabled list. That, however, is not an issue in his current struggle. “Im trying to figure it out. I know its frustrating for people to watch me go through it, but can you imagine how much more frustrating it is to actually go through it?” Davis said.dddddddddddd. “At the same time, we still have a lot of baseball left to play and I know Im going to get an opportunity to come out of it. I know Ill come out of it.” Nothing hes tried to reverse the trend has worked, and Davis acknowledged that he hasnt a clue what to do next. “Im not really feeling a whole lot at the plate right now other than frustration,” he said. A year ago, Davis was so sharp at the plate that almost every swing produced results. This year, not so much. “When youre hitting .330, it feels like you hit every hole, every pitch you take is a ball,” he said. “When youre hitting just over .200, it feels like every pitch you take is a strike and every time you hit a ball hard somebody is standing there.” Teammate Adam Jones suggested that a bloop hit, and not a tape-measure home run, could be the cure. “He might need to get jammed, bad jammed, and he hits it on the label right above his fingers and it falls for a base hit,” Jones said. “He might figure it out from there.” Showalter said Davis would start Tuesday, and the manager was optimistic that his first baseman will soon get back on track. “Hes close,” Showalter said. “I have a lot of confidence it will pick up as the season goes.” Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ‘ ‘ ‘
